In yesterday’s post, I gave readers the history of the OLPC & Asus EeePC products … including why I’m go eager to geek out over cheap notebook computers. Today I put them together for a proper comparison.
Tonight, on this website … two not-so-giants of the computing world meet to do battle …
Well, they won’t do battle … but they will be compared. And pictures will be taken …
No, not those kinds of pictures (pervert) … it’s just my comparison of the Asus EeePC and the OLPC.
Either my computer is too small or my pants pockets are too large, but the Asus EeePC my employer purchased for me fits in my cargo pants pocket.
So “there’s a computer in my pants” might sound like a creepy pickup line at a tradeshow, but it might also be true.
If you want a tiny computer shipped to you in any reasonable amount of time, you might want an EeePC instead of an OLPC, since they seem unable to deliver them to “paying” customers. I’ve actually had a chance to compare the two side-by side. I’ll post later with my observations, pictures and video featuring a cat walking across both keyboards.

If you haven’t heard, the economy is a little rough right now. Not as rough as one might be lead to believe watching the news, but bad enough that politicians want to look like they’re doing something useful.
“By the way,” my wife said, “I need to tell you something about the turtles …”
This is a story about roommates and their pets. And turtle sex.
I’m not sure if I had an real dreams during my normally scheduled sleep last night, but the dream I had between the alarm going off the first time and actually getting out of bed was really strange.
There were zombies storming my house. Well, not my actual house, but whatever my dream created as an acceptable substitute for my house (it wasn’t a 100% match, but it had a nice basement). The bulk of the dream was gathering my friends together to barricade ourselves in, block doors and try to figure out why we only have one single-barrel shotgun in the house.
I know it should be nice to have a dream where your friends and coworkers come together for a common goal, but this is a bit surreal
And no … none of the zombies were carrying guitars. It wasn’t unreasonable, nobody was going to eat my eyes
Debbie Ohi got some great pictures from GaFilk, including shots of our band (Play it with Moxie) in action. More »
