Suzan got this great birthday cake from our friend Asai over the weekend (yes, a few days ahead of July 4th, but it’s the cake that counts) . More »

By request, more information on last night’s show @ Park Tavern.

Lineup:

  • Johnette Napolitano – former lead singer of Concrete Blonde. Amazing singer, still puts on a show with a lot of energy. Great voice for someone who is 50 … hell, great voice for someone who is 30. Wonderful cover of “The Scientist” by Coldplay along with her own songs.
  • Sam Thacker – good solo artist I had not heard of before. Good songs, good voice, great band & totally unphased when he breaks guitar strings during a show. I’ll seek out his album.
  • Adam James – Atlanta artist who makes use of a sample pedal to add layers to a solo performance, this time using his guitar as a percussion instrument. Another solid performance.

Welcome to the Park Tavern in beautiful Atlanta, Georgia. Suzan and I are enjoying a nice outdoor venue in a city we live near yet rarely visit.

It’s the curse of living OTP (“outside the perimeter”) … there’s a great city just 30 miles away, but you rarely go there. Around, through, past, near … yet rarely “there”.

A good band brings us to the edge of Piedmont Park, along with outdoor dining and friends. Beer is nice, too. Time out with my wife is better.

Yes, she is text-messaging friends while I make this post. But the thumbs will soon rest as we enjoy music together. We should do this more often.
