Ah, life has been fun recently. Patrick, Stephen and I recorded Episode 5 of WhatTheCast last night. I hope to have it edited & posted by Sunday, because I think it’s comedy gold.
Saturday should also be entertaining. My karate school is doing a demo for the Mountain Park Plaza Spring Festival from 2:00-3:00pm. We’ll be next to Tut’s Book Emporium as ARTC puts on a live presentation. I have a feeling I will be one of the brown belts Mr. Reader uses for demonstrations. Yesh, you can come watch me get tossed about in an unpleasant manner .. only a few people saw it the last time in Virginia.
Dear Trees:
Please keep your sex lives out of my sinuses! Get a room, and clean up after yourselves!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to find my allergy medication.
Birthday … didn’t I have one of those last year?
Well, there are worse things than turning 35.
From my friend Patrick …
Mom’s oxygen numbers plummeted over night. Dad received a call at 3:30am saying that we were needed at the hospital. Her condition had finally worsened such that no machine could bring her oxygen levels up again. Around 11am we had the most difficult discussion of my life.

I can say nothing more about this except that is makes me sad …
And now, some free verse …
Oh rear bumper of my PT Cruiser
How I wish thee were currently intact
Rather than bent and dented
From a low-speed impact
Oh great force, discussed by Newton
With your mass times acceleration
You did not hurt my body
But you forced profanity past my lips
Oh mysterious man in the dark sedan
Who did not stay for the police report
I hope they call you soon
For I gave them your license plate number
Oh HERO unit, which helps motorists
When they are in need
I am glad I did not need major assistance
And I hope not to need your help again
Oh digital camera, residing in my cupholder
So I can take random pictures of life
I must now print your pictures
Of my dented rear bumper
What is the point of daylight saving time anyway? Saving power? Helping farmers?
No, I think this addresses a deeper philosophical point … trying to control the world around us.
Well frak, it sounds like Penn Jillette’s radio show is going off the air. That means the podcast of the show will also be going away.
“Penn and CBS would have been very happy for the show to continue had the one hour format proven to have been easier to program in to more markets.”
I enjoyed having his skeptic, libertarian & humorous viewpoints in my ear five days a week. It’s also a little weird since I have one of those “six degrees of separation” connections to Penn (Suzan knows Kim, who is friends with Emily, who is married to Penn). I guess I’ll just have to watch more episodes of B.S. now.
I wonder what someone can do if they want to produce a radio show for less than an hour (he asks in a rhetorical sort of way)? In podcasting, more than an hour is a sin (at least according to Steve & Mike).
