Plenty of zeroes, not enough ones
Another day, another dead hard drive. My Western Digital 200GB drive died yesterday. Bad sectors & CRC errors started popping up Sunday night.
This is the “work” drive in my video editing rig, so I’m glad it died now rather than in a few weeks when Dragon*ConTV kicks in. The main Seagata SATA in the machine works fine, so I can skip the massive reinstall fest (for now).
I’ve lost a few files, but nothing that will really kill me. I lost the production files for Episode 1 of WhatTheCast, but Episode 0 is backed up on DVD so I have the music beds & breaks (the episode was already uploaded, so I still have the finished product). Dragon*ConTV is backed up on a variety of tapes & external hard drives, along with my video production libraries.
So, time to go drive shopping (grrrrrr). I have a lot of things I’d rather be spending money on right now, like food & gas.

Uck. Yeah. This happens to me periodically. I tend to get about 3 years out of a drive these days.
