Since US Airways has withdrawn its hostile takeover bid for Delta Airlines, the frequent flyer in me wishes to point out the following related stories …
1. The CNN Money story covering the withdrawn offer. It’s not a fancy piece of journalism, but it has a great caption under the stock photo:
Delta Air Lines (tail in front) will apparently stay independent after its creditors rejected a hostile bid from US Airways (tail in rear).
Are the fine folks at Atlanta-based CNN trying to imply that (a) Delta has the tail on the wrong end of their plane or (b) US Airlines is showing us their rear end as they run away from Atlanta?
2. A senator figuring out that if US Airways has the money to pickup a giant airline, then they can afford to pay back the government for pension shortfalls. The libertarian in me loves the idea of getting some of my wasted tax dollars back … as long as the Democrat from the great state of New Jersey doesn’t blow it on some lame social program.
It’s been a weekend that mirrors what’s going on in my life right now … reorganizing, getting reacquainted with what’s been, setting up for what’s next.
Before my first encounter using Windows Vista at work, I had no desire to install it at home. After encountering my first application compatibility problem, I will officially run screaming from it.
Yes, GaFilk 2007 was fun. Our banquet jazz band, Play It With Moxie, had a great time playing to the GaFilk crowd. I saw old friends, met new people & heard a great group from Germany (Summer & Fall). It’s an interesting contrast from Dragon*Con, but still fun.
And GaFilk will be the second convention to eat my brain … I’m scheduled to be the toastmaster for GaFilk 2008 (translation: master of ceremonies, not singing but still scheduled for an hour to “perform”). That should be entertaining. It’s not the level of work I put into Dragon*ConTV and the convention DVDs, but it’s still a con.
My wife will still get to see me sometimes, don’t worry
