Not news: I am at an airport.
News: I am not here to get on an airplane.
My mother & her husband (Tom) are about to embark on a one month tour of South America, a multi-country mixture of cruise ships and rental cars.
It all starts with a flight to Miami, which departs in several hours. Along with being their ride to the airport, I also serve as digital camera consultant and laptop service repair central.
I see it as interest on that whole “paid for your education” thing …
Despite minor married bickering about packing for the trip & the occasional flat tire, my Mom’s new married life is going well. Seeing her is a reminder of where I come from … hearing her say I remind her of her father (my grandfather) is a little weird, but good considering how good of a man he was.
So we’ll have lunch & talk about how to get photos onto a CD-R before she heads south of the equator. It marks an end to the “relatives” part of the holidays, leaving room for visits with friends.
