Christmas Time
I bought either the *best* or *worst* Christmas present for Suzan this year … I’m not sure which yet
Thanks to some Chinese manufacturing conglomerate, my wife is now the proud owner of a Power Player III (“Super Joy”) console. Sure, it’s nothing more than an old NES system & ROMs of dubious licensing, but it has a lot of old video games that Suzan loved to play in high school (and a few I wasted several quarters on as a child).
So this is *good* because she’s having fun with a lot of games that don’t need power-ups, 3D engines or strange secret key combinations.
However, it’s *bad* because my wife may start hearing the 8-bit overtures from Tetris in her sleep (or I may hear them in mine if she sneaks off at 2:00AM to bask in the warm glow of the TV).
So Galaga & Tetris are being played on a 52″ TV, with Suzan sitting too close in the grand tradition of home video games. There are plenty of other things that were unwrapped today … clothes, earrings, DVDs, cards … but the general silliness of the game fits Christmas so well.
Well, I hear DigDug. That’s my cue to check on the wife Merry 8-bit-mas to all.

Super Joy, eh?
I had a blast playing Gauntlet II with Suzan and Steve the other day. So much fun, in fact, that I’m going to get a couple of other USB gamepad controllers.
Go retro!
Bought one for us. This is a must-have for our group of friends, and at the post-Christmas price, worth the pocket change it cost.
