The Quiet Goodbye
It’s tough to do a proper goodbye when your voice is shot.
Suzan is getting over bronchitis, so she’s hoarse from coughing. I’m getting over the worst allergy attack I’ve ever had due to pollen, so I’m hoarse from coughing.
Suzan is flying to Ohio to see an old friend from high school … well, supposed to be flying. As of 5:45pm her 3:40pm flight to Charlotte was still on the runway in Atlanta (weather delays). She’ll be back on Tuesday, but I’ll be off to Seattle by then (flying our Sunday, back on Friday).
So two people with no voice trying to say goodbye, and turning our heads to cough between hugs. We’ve resorted to IM and text messages for now, relying on technology for basic communication. Our voices will be fine in a few days, ready to say hello again when I return from the airport.

Oh yeah, I just visited the doctor in the hopes of regaining my voice after springtime allergies pretty much overloaded my current drugs.
*sigh*
Try dealing with a verbal, active four year when you can’t talk . .
Bleah. On the other hand, now’s your chance to learn ASL for such situations!
Fun! I was kind of hoping that my lack of voice would hold out until Monday so I wouldn’t have to give a presentation, but no such luck. It found its way back to my voicebox this morning. Damn.
Have fun in Seattle! More rain!
