Busy but good
This weekend was … well, read the title of this post …
Friday involved hiring our local tree removal service to fell our “domino pine trees” (one tree, leaning on a second, leaning on a third). Despite an incedent summarized by the quote “it’s a good thing my boy can run”, Tracy worked his usual magic removing dead trees in threatening poses. The last tree he removed was a diseased oak so large it actually worried some of his crew. The pictures of the removal process are still up in his office.
Suzan and I hosted a house filk on Saturday. It went very well. I didn’t get all of the guests I expected due to the latest in trendy flu-like viruses, but we had a great time and made some good music. I’ll try to wade through the 2.5 hours of recording to see if I captured any of the good stuff.
My house was full of friends making music … hard to ask for anything better.
Mary & Wes (her husband, aka “Mr. Mary” to most filkers who never see them together) stayed for the weekend. Mary used the filk as an excuse to come to town for a Three Weird Sisters practice, and Wes used the filk as an excuse to make a tasty mess in my kitchen (our pot-luck almost fed a small African country).
Our goat herd is entering kidding season (no, they are not going to open mic night at the comedy club, they’re having kids … silly reader). Aria had one this morning, and more should be popping out soon. The Eastwind Farms Toggenburg Factory is about to go back into full production.
Now I need to try and keep this pesky cold I got over the weekend from overshadowing the memory of a great weekend.

We’re really sorry we didn’t make it, but we’re still somewhere on mid-atlantic time and couldn’t quite get ourselves up for the drive. I hope we’ll make the next one you host, and I hope you guys will make it to more of the gatherings!
Oooh, more baby goats!
Rob: don’t worry about it. Jet lag is one of my personal enemies, so I feel your sleepy pain.
I’m quite grumpy about having been too sick to get there. Sorry!
