Life’s busy even without the house coming close to completion … let’s go to the quick update!

Spider bite … no problem, just a small infection. I’ll do a follow-up with the doctor Friday, but it doesn’t look serious.

Bell Sloth … never showed up Monday, re-schedule for Friday.

House … more pictures are posted, we’re almost done! Maybe I’ll start moving in this weekend!

Financial obligations due to completion of the house … yet another round of paperwork to convert the construction loan to thirty years of amotorized interest-bearing payments. Lock in that rate before the Feds raise the prime! We sould close on May 21st.

Work … ack, it’s work, but I might be slightly change my job responsibilities. More news as it happens.

I’m home today waiting for the phone company to hook up the line for my new house. Of course, “between then hours of eight and noon” seems to mean “not before eleven” in the BellSouth Employee Glossary. The cleaning crew is here, sucking up dust and wiping down walls. I’ll post pictures of the tub backsplash just as soon as they get out of the way.

Oh yeah, almost forgot … I got bit by a spider! I woke up with a small purple spot under my right armpit. The local doctor saw me about 9:00am, confirmed it was actually a spider bite, and started an antibiotic treatment while we wait for the culture to come back.

Nurse (looking at technical manual): Do we want to perform an aerobic culture?
Doctor: No, just a standard culture.
Me: How should I know if my bacteria work out?

Suzan and I ordered couches this weekend, and bought a refurbished 25 cubic foot freezer at the Sears Outlet (that’s a lot of popsicles). We’re off to buy the bedroom furniture (ouch) after lunch … assuming the phone guy actually shows up before noon.

I came home to several hundred square feet of carpet and a female locksmith last night … more progress has been made on the house, and we’re even closer to the final day (see progress photos for thousands of words).

When will the gas range be installed?
Will the tub get tiled this weekend?
Who will Donald Trump fire next … whoops, wrong topic.

Yes, the phone company is coming on Monday … between 8 and 12 … to install my new phone line. The house is almost ready for “final cleaning” before the walkthrough, so it’s time to get wired.

Let me run that last part by you, just in case you missed it … final cleaning. I am weeks, perhaps mere days, away from finishing the house. Some carpet, a bit of tile around the tub, and I can move in.

Damn, I haven’t even packed yet.

So how do you know you’ve neglected your website too long … when your 80 year old grandfather tels you that you haven’t updated the house photos on your website in a while.

Sigh.

So I got back from China Saturday night, not very jet lagged since I slept on the plane … part of that sleep courtesy of a fishbowl sized tequila-based beverage consumed at the Chili’s in Terminal A of the Detroit Airport. But I’ve dreampt of nothing but airports the past two nights.

Why dream of airports? I have two weeks before my house is done, a ton of stuff to move, video shoots for Dragon*Con TV to plan, and two hours of video from Taiwan & China to edit for various forms of VideoFu … the best my brain can do is think of airports?
