I’m not dead yet …
No, just been away from the Internet for a while. I’ve been busy since returning from Taiwan … preparing to tile my new house while trying to get into the work groove again.
The painter’s schedule will determine when I can get into the house to tile. In an effort to save a few bucks, not to mention feel like I’m contributing more than cash to my new home, I am prepared to tile over 250 square feet of GeekFarm 2.0. Suzan and I installed concrete backerboard in all of the rooms, along with purchasing all of the tiles.
Purchasing the tiles involved me looking at the little credit card swipe at Home Depot repeating the phrase “it’s cheaper than paying somebody to do it” before running my American Express card through the slot.
Note for Home Depot: when a repeat customer comes by the store to purchase almost $1,000 of building materials, it would be good policy to make sure somebody’s there to help them load the truck … otherwise that person’s wife will continue to buy lumber & concrete at Ace Hardware where they load the truck for her.
I’m using time off from work to do this for a number of reasons. Reason #1 is that I would rather be at home than at work right now. Reason #2 is that I have plans for Saturday afternoon & evening (Cirque du Soleil and dinner with friends) that prevent me from putting a full weekend of housework. So now it’s just a matter of which days … Thursday & Friday … Friday & Monday … I’ll know soon.
Now it’s back to work … or at least sitting on my desk.

Alegria! I am so jealous.
It’s an amazing show — one of the best of the Cirques in my parents’ opinion, and they’ve seen almost all of them.
Have fun!@#
Ah, the wonders of d-i-y. My flooring project wound up saving enough cash to redo the bathroom completely and mostly redo the dining room. Someday I’ll even get the baseboards back down…
