I am happy to report that our first expatriate Thanksgiving went over very well. Suzan and I made turkey for our friends Thomas, Danielle, Aaron, Joyce, Jeff and Amy. Suzan and I have done Thanksgiving alone before, but never with non-family guests. I think I can say that a good time was had by all.
Nothig really went wrong in the kitchen. The turkey got done faster than I expected, which scared me at first (I’m a good host, so I feel bad about killing my guests). But the turkey was good, my friends brought supplemental food … Jeff’s famous baked beans, Danielle’s corn caserole & strange green pie (which was never consumed due to my wife’s frenzy of pie making), and Joyce’s quiche sans cheese (oops).
Thomas had to leave early (last minute call to work the Lennox Mall tree lighting ceremony) and Danielle left shortly thereafter. The rest of us piled on the couch to drink and watch TV … The Muppet Show on DVD, Queer Eye, and Daria (odd mix, but entertaining).
It was a great way to spend a holiday, and I hope to do it again once the new house gets built (more crash space = more guests). Now I have to figure out what to do with all those damn pies …

I think the "go get your own turkey, you script kiddie bastard" is wonderful.
