GMD417
Do you know what Georgia Militia District you live in? I didn’t before, but I do now. It’s amazing what you can learn from a trip to Planning & Development.
This weekend was spend in awe of Cirque de Soleil and cute newborn goats. Monday was another day at work. Today was spent away from work, taking care of banking & paperwork issues related to impending home construction.
Suzan and I found out we had to subdivide our property for new construction, since there’s already an existing home on the property. I went to Walton County Planning & Development to get the new plat approved. There’s a 15 item checklist for each plat … leave off one item and it won’t get approved. One of the items is the (GMD) code. Apparently every survey requires this information, right there above my address & phone number. I’m trying to figure out what value I derive from residing in GMD 417.
I dropped in to speak with a few local banks regarding construction loans. Since I already have the property under an existing loan and I had to subdivide my own land to avoid building code problems, I’m not going to fit into a cookie-cutter loan application. But the banks don’t seem to have any real problem with my situation, so now the paperwork begins.
My day off also resulted in some overdue auto maintenance and a nice lunch with my wife. Thanks to my new laptop I was able to make good use of the time I spent sitting in the auto garage lobby. Now I’m home for the day, ready to spend some quality time on minor home improvements.
Not an elaborate day off, but not bad.
