Duct & Cover
Which would you rather have … duct tape & plastic, or one of those schooldesks from the 1950′s?
I’m not a child of the 1950′s, mostly due to the fact I was born in 1972, but I have seen the old nuclear safety films. The old black & white films of the 50′s gave children the impression their desks were made of some material that resisted nuclear fallout. I guess it’s the same stuff they use to make the airplane’s “black box”.
Has duct tape & plastic become the modern equivalent of the 1950′s school desk? Are folks going to try and seal off a spare room, forgetting that they’ll die just as quickly from suffocation as they would from bio-engineered warfare agents? Will surburbanites use rolls of grey tape and seal themselves into their SUV, conveniently forgetting that they now have nowhere to go to the bathroom?
I’m very tempted to make this the subject of my next Video Fu … a black & white safety film titled Duct & Cover, complete with music (I think my musician friends can properly spoof the old Duck & Cover song). It may be in poor taste, but it can’t be any more foolish than hiding under a sixty year old desk.

go for it! that’d be hilarious.
Oh, please do! I can’t believe rational people believe plastic sheeting & duct tape will save their lives. Of course duct tape can do anything – after I saw a prom dress made with the stuff anything’s possible.
Oooooooh. Do it. Heck, it would make great d*c fodder…
Want footage of Stinger missile Humvees?
Heather … yes, yes I would.
