So far …
So far, today has been better than yesterday.
Yesterday suffered from three major problems:
(1) I was under the influence of “the cold that will not die”. This slow, lingering set of mild symptoms is annoying. I request that the germs either knock me on my ass or go away. I skipped karate class due to the lack of energy.
(2) My new habit of obtaining 20 ounces of coffee every morning backfired. I spilled coffee into my keyboard. Most of the mess has been cleaned up, but my ENTER key is still a bit sticky.
(3) I spent an hour debugging the stupidest code bug yesterday … the perl bug that wasn’t really a perl bug. My intranet server runs an automated script to check for recently uploaded documents and print the list on the main page. It worked on Friday after I moved the server to a new computer, but wasn’t working Monday morning. The script would run but never exit. After trying to use the completely useless perl debugger I found the problem. I had mistakenly placed a soft link to one of the directories inside the directory (instead of in a user’s home directory). So the script would parse the directory, enter the sub-directory (which is actually the same directory), enter the sub-directory (which is actually the same directory) … yadda, yadda, yadda. Stupid infinite loops.
Today is going much better. I got some christmas shopping done over lunch. Tonight will be spent perparing food for the office pot-luck Thanksgiving lunch. It’s always to see how a multi-national company puts together an office lunch. Turkey, ham, tofu, curry chicken … it’s all good.

Yeah, pretty good. Yesterday was the pot-luck at work … a pre-Thanksgiving dinner to make sure the stomach is stretched out for the real meal.
Thursday morning will be spent driving to SC. At least there’s no traffic.
You feeling better, Brian?
The "cold that will not die". I have one of those damn things. Hope yours goes away soon…. before you share it with Suzan.
