Yes! I got my new camcorder yesterday. The Sharp VL-WD450U isn’t fancy, but it does the job (and it has a rebate). Not bad for a birthday present.
Of course, now I need accessories … a camcorder bag for all the cables, a larger hard disk for video editing, a 1394 cable (the damn thing didn’t come with the 4-pin to 6-pin cable I need for my home computer). Down the road I’ll probably need a second battery.
This remings me of the “gateway drug” scenario … the cheap and easily accessible stuff leads to hard addictions. I’ve been curbing my toy habit over the past few years, performing fewer and fewer upgrades to my home copmputer network. Let’s see if I can control the urge to splurge on digital video.
Good thing Costco sells DV tapes … those damn things aren’t cheap.
